‘Mortal Kombat’ 2021: Everything We Know About the Release New Movie

After more than two decades of development, the third Mortal Kombat film is finally within reach. The latest installment in the popular film franchise brings the beloved video games and their characters back to life with a new cast and plenty of fan favorites, including Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Kano, and Raiden.

Warner Bros. gave us a glimpse at the highly anticipated film with a bloody red-band trailer released this morning that teases the story of Cole Young (Lewis Tan), a mixed martial arts fighter with a mysterious birthmark who suddenly finds himself the target of Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim). To protect himself and his family, Cole joins a collection of warriors who have been selected to keep Earthrealm safe from the forces of Outworld.

“Throughout history, different cultures all over the world reference a great tournament of champions,” Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee) explains. “That dragon marking, I think it’s an invitation to fight for something known as Mortal Kombat.” With the help of Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano), Sonya and others, Cole embraces his destiny as a fighter and prepares to face off against the Outworld enemies in a battle for the future of the universe.
