This is the guide for Mortal Kombat X, detailing all of the characters in the game, including variations, costumes and fatalities. Players can also expect to find tips, tutorials for specific game modes, and a single-player story walkthrough.
You start Mortal Kombat X with one fatality and one brutality for each predetermined character. You must discover the remaining fatalities and atrocities by executing them at the end of a match or unlocking them in the Krypt. If you take a fatality before unlocking it in the Krypt, it will be automatically unlocked. However, brutalities must be unlocked before they can be performed in a match. You can also perform Fatalities in Fatality Practice Mode before they are unlocked. Just run the new Fatality instead of the one that appears on the screen.
Kills must be done from a specific distance from your opponent:
- Close: stand next to the opponent.
- In-between screen: move about three characters away from the opponent.
- Full screen – Stand on the other side of the opponent’s screen.
Note: In some cases it may be easier to hold the lock while entering directions for a fatality. For example, if the fatality is Forward, Backward, Forward 3, it may be easier to hold down Lock, press Forward, Back, Forward, release Lock, and then press 3.
Brutalities are essentially special moves that yield a fatality when used as a final hit that kills the opponent and ends the fight (before the ad calls “KILL HIM”). However, to perform most atrocities, you must meet certain requirements. For example, you may have to hit the opponent a certain number of times with an attack during the match, win the first round of the match with a throw, or hold down the Forward button during the final attack animation. If all the requirements are not met, there will be no rudeness.
Mortal Kombat X is a fighting game that runs on Unreal Engine 3. It was developed by NetherRealm Studios for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and will be released on April 14, 2015. The game will also arrive on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms later in 2015, with those versions developed by High Voltage Software.

Mortal Kombat X Tips for unlock fatalities
- Spend time in Mortal Kombat X’s training mode. This allows players to adapt to the different characters before venturing into the game’s multiplayer mode.
- Training mode is also required to unlock Mortal Kombat X story mode, so it is basically required.
- Each character has three variations that greatly change their fighting styles. Make sure to check out each variation before selecting a character. We have listed them below.
- In addition to your standard gauge on MKX, there’s also an endurance meter that controls things like Breakers and sprinting. Keep an eye on these to know what moves you can do and when.
- Brutalities require players to perform certain tasks during the match. Only then are they available for use.
- Even if you’re not a fan of some of the new characters, you should spend some time playing them to understand their strengths and weaknesses.
